If you are reading this blog, chances are you are a fan of Clay Aiken. So…it follows that you are probably a fan of good music.  Most fans of good music are interested in finding the best place to hear and purchase their musical choices.  Apple and iTunes is hoping that they will be your choice of new music purchases.

On September 1, 2010, Steve Jobs presented some facts about Apple and iTunes that are very interesting.  He started his presentation with some very impressive statistics.

  • There are currently 300 Apple stores, in 10 countries.
  • There are in excess of 1 million visitors to those stores on most days.
  • iTunes has 160 million active accounts
  • 12 million songs in the iTunes store
    • 450 million TV episodes downloaded via iTunes
    • 11.7 billion songs downloaded from iTunes
    • 100 million movies downloaded via iTunes
    • 35 million books downloaded via iTunes

These numbers seem pretty impressive.

After presenting the statistics, Mr. Jobs announced the unveiling of iTunes 10.  An unexpected announcement was the introduction of Ping on iTunes. With it, users will be able to follow friends and see what music they have bought or enjoyed, what concerts they plan to attend and what music they have reviewed. They will also be able to follow bands and get updates on their new releases, concert tours and other events.

The service will be instantly available to 160 million iTunes users once they download the latest version of the software, the NY Times reports.

Mr. Jobs also announced a new iTune logo. He said:

“Since iTunes is about to bypass CDs in sales, we thought it was appropriate to ditch the CD.”

Do you like the new logo better than the old one?  Do you use iTunes?

Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard recently entertained Los Angeles at their show at The Club Nokia Theatre. The two singers met in 2002 during the auditions of American Idol and became friends. Months later in May 2003, they became the winner and runner up on the second season of the show. Both went on to put out several successful albums. On their Timeless Tour the duo is traveling across the country singing all their favorite songs of each decade. The show starts off with the announcer stating that Ruben and Clay are on the same stage together except this time there is no Simon or Randy to judge them. The show is very reminiscent of a variety type show with music and sketch comedy bits, a full band and Ruben and Clay dressed in suits.

Studdard kicked off the show singing “Flying Without Wings/This Is the Night” in a mash-up with Aiken then appearing to sing “Suspicious Minds.” He then followed with “Bring It On Home.” The pair was backed by an excellent band and two talented background singers (Quiana Parler and
Casey Thompson) who each had their chance to shine doing a solo number. Studdard and Aiken talked about how they met and their experience on “American Idol” which included coming to Hollywood in
which Aiken joked “that it was actually Glendale.” The two then performed an excellent two-hour show to the crowd who sang along to all the songs. Even with the omission of their own hit singles, this was a very entertaining show.

Studdard proved that he can sing R& B and gospel with a funny routine where he took us to the church as Rev. Ruben was going to cure Clay of his “lack of rhythmitis.” Aiken can sing any style given to him as he showcased in this performance. After performing the each decade they closed the show with the song ‘Time Of My Life.” The crowd which included American Idol Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson enjoyed every minute of it.

The new information for this project can be found at

NATIONAL INCLUSION PROJECT – PEPSI REFRESH

It is September 1st and it is the first day of voting for The National Inclusion Project at The Pepsi Challenge.  This is our opportunity to help raise money and support for Clay Aiken’s very own charity.  It won’t cost anything to help and it will take about 1 minute of each day.

In an e-mail, the National Inclusion Project wrote:

The Pepsi challenge is a month-long activity with each registered person able to vote daily through email, Facebook, and/or texting. We have entered the competition for $50,000 and there are 10 winners each month so there is plenty room for our partners and the Project to win.

Please help us achieve success with the Pepsi Refresh Challenge! We need you to vote daily and encourage your friends, neighbors, and anyone else you can think of to vote. You do not need to have a Facebook account to participate, but you will need to setup an account with Pepsi at www.refresheverything.com. It will take only a couple of minutes and then login daily to vote. To sign up for a daily email reminder, visit us at www.inclusionproject.org/pepsi.

Together we can do this and continue to make a difference in the lives of children, thanks for your continued and dedicated support!

According to Aron Hall, the director of Services at the National Inclusion Project, the Pepsi Challenge does not give out the complete details until the last minute.  So, the first place to get the instructions will be in the daily reminder from The National Inclusion Project.   And, of course, we will publish all the details as soon as we get them.

Aron was kind enough to send us a wonderful letter he received from a parent.  He said we could share it with you.

“I just wanted to personally thank you for making room this summer for Jonathan to participate in the inclusion camp.  He absolutely loved it.  He liked the routine, games and counselors and of course friends he met at the camp.  He was the camper of the day for a few times and we were so proud of him.  It has been more than a week since his last day at camp; he continues talking about what he would have done now at the camp if he were there.  I think he gains more confidence and has gotten more comfortable being around with other kids.  I think we made the right move.  You have done a wonderful job in finding all those energetic, helpful and enthusiastic counselors.  Again, I can go on and on about his camp experience and have nothing negative to say about the camp.

We thank you for providing such a wonderful camp for our children.  Please take care and we’ll see you next summer.”

This is why our votes are so important!!

So………lets put this challenge at the top of our “to-do” list.  AND, don’t be surprised when we remind you often about the importance of voting this month.  I believe we will all feel  good as we watch  our votes make a difference!

On Monday, August 30th, Clay Aiken was somewhere in the world being a regular person.  There were no sightings or rumors.  Clay is in his “man cave.”

However, the public Clay Aiken was all over the Internet.  When a google search was launched, Clay’s PSA for UNICEF was listed and posted at sites all over the net.  From the USA Today – Idol Chatter to Gossip Blender, from Look To The Stars to JustJared, every legitimate and non-legitimate site posted the wonderful video that Clay recorded.

The biggest honor for Clay was to see that his UNICEF video was on the United Nations web site. You can find it HERE.

When was the last time you visited the Decca Records web site.  If you haven’t had a chance to visit the site, why not stop by and leave a review of Tried & True: Live! As of August 30th, there are 34 reviews.  It only takes a few minutes and I am sure that Decca and Clay would appreciate the support. Besides, the site is interesting to see. Just click on DECCARECORDS

Do you think that Clay Aiken is still interested in The Amazing Race?  If he still wants to be a contestant on the show, he just might get a chance.  Lynette Rice, a writer for Entertainment Weekly wrote that there might be a Celebrity Amazing Race.

Phil Keoghan, the host of The Amazing Race said he would love to see a celebrity Amazing Race.  However, he also said:

…. there have been talks about featuring a Hollywood edition but the realities of celebrity life make the possibility daunting….The question that always comes up is would we be able to get them out of their schedule….

Do you think Clay would participate in the Celebrity Amazing Race if he were invited?  If so, who would make a good travel buddy for Clay?

Seeing the new PSA that Clay Aiken recorded this week, made me think about UNICEF and the many ways that they help children in the world every day.  Sometimes we forget that UNICEF is out there every day, helping children in 191 countries throughout the world. UNICEF was created to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path.  They advocate for measures [...] Continue Reading...

On Tuesday, August 24th, we heard from Contrast Creative, a Media Production Company in Cary, NC.  It seems Clay Aiken was in their studio, recording a public service announcement for UNICEF. Today, that video was released on YouTube.  Thank you, Clay for your support of children throughout the world.  I hope we can all show our support by donating to UNICEF in Clay's name.  Every dollar counts!!
