Clay Aiken – Two Classy Young Men

By musicfan123

Did any of you watch the American Music Awards last night?  I really don’t even know what to say about last night………..so…….I won’t comment.

Instead, I am providing two videos that I prefer to watch.  They show two classy young men who performed for the first time in front of their peers and were amazingly good!!  Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken received accolades for their performances at the 2003 American Music Awards.  Watching Clay Aiken win the Fan’s Choice Award that night was a bonus.

I don’t know what has happened in 6 years, but may I just say……..”I am so proud to be a fan of Clay Aiken.”

How true. But I'm glad you took the high road and didn't mention any names. We all know Clay is the one with class and decency. I'm also very proud to be a Clay fan :)

Thank you. My eyes and ears needed some real entertainment. If these two tour together, I'll be there in a heartbeat.

  3. Musicfan…thanks for bringing some sanity over here……Clay and Ruben are definately a class act…..it was fun watching that again…

    Hugs,

This man has an AWESOME singing voice, sings the way it should be done. Nowadays it is so sad that it is most definitely about the theatrics and shock value in music that seems to get the audience attention, vocal ability is no longer even 2nd or 3rd in importance. Watched the AMA's last night and only 2 or 3 performers acutally did a beautiful job of singing. The rest was all about who could do a better job of theatrics. What is happening in the music world?????

Clay Aiken is the epitome of class and talent. All he needs is his gorgeous voice and a stage and the audience is his, all his. No shtick, just Clay. Beautiful decent Clay. Thanks for the Clay & Rube video….what a treat.

All of the AMA backlash that I am hearing, has made me love Clay Aiken even more, if that is possible. Just our plain, talented, funny, intelligent, speaks his mind..Clay. Luv him.

I dont care what anyone else's reason would be for watching that, but you couldnt pay me enough to watch it.

Thank you so much for putting that video up of the AMA of 2003. All I can say is where has morality gone? After reading all that backlash from last nights performance…it was so nice to see two decent men like Clay and Ruben performing. I am so proud to be a Clay Aiken Fan.

What a difference last night and the 2003 performance. Both Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard are talented, but even more they are both making a difference in the world to make it better.

I love watching the perfomance of Jesus is Love by Clay and Ruben. It's about the voice and the music, no tricks, no gimmicks.

Thank God for Clay Aiken, A class act of the first degree! What has happened to the music and the morality of this country… if last night was a sample, STOP THE WORLD I WANT TO GET OFF!!!!!

Thanks for the memories, Musicfan. I never even thought about the awards last night. I think I have watched them once since Clay's night and that was enough for me.

When Clay is back again, I'll be watching. :)

What a difference in performances. 2003 was music…….2009 was a show gone wrong!!

Thank you for posting those wonderful videos.

Thank you for these wonderful videos! Two young men unashamed of who they are, genuine examples of what we need more of in this world today! Love Clay! Love Reuben! Paula and Kim looked thrilled that Clay won the Fan's Choice Award. I was! He deserved it!

As I said earlier, I would never watch AMA anymore especially last nite.
I LOVE Clay Aiken after what Ive heard today. Clay and Ruben's act was class.
    Thank you.

Talk about being brave and taking chances at the AMA's to promote what you believe in!!! Jesus is Love put a spin on the 2003 awards that wasn't in keeping with what we had seen that night. Yes, it's gone WAY downhill here in 2009 IMO, but if I remember correctly, the 2003 awards show had its share of graphic innuendo and profanity. But in the midst of that, Clay and Ruben took the stage and raised their God-given voices in praise. They continue even today and while the entertainment worlds standards may have deteriorated, Clay and Ruben's higher standards guide their careers. A gutsy and wonderful musical statement of true talent.

Now there was a class act. Ruben and Clay got a standing O at the AMA's that year. Boy, how times have in 6 years……from Jesus Is Love to S+M. Thanks for letting us relieve a wonderful moment in time.
