Clay Aiken – Making A Difference in the World

On November 15, 2004, Clay Aiken was a guest on the Larry King Live television show.  Clay was the exclusive guest for the first half of the show that was broadcast on CNN.

Clay and Larry discussed many topics, including Clay’s book, his new Christmas CD and his Christmas special.

Larry teased the audience by saying that Clay had a big announcement to share on the show…

The huge announcement was pretty spectacular.  Clay had been asked by UNICEF to be one of their goodwill ambassadors.  Because of Clay’s experience as a teacher, Clay’s focus for UNICEF would be on educational issues.

I remember when Clay made this exciting announcement.  I was so proud of Clay and realized what a difference Clay was going to make in the world.

It’s been a few years so I have included videos of the show.  I hope you enjoy them.

  1. I'm always so proud of the work Clay does with UNICEF and of course NIP. He really does make a difference in the world.

  2. Thanks for the videos of Clay on LKL, Musicfan. I will watch them again, after I post here. I do remember them and being so proud of Clay being asked to be an Ambassador. It is one of the first things I remember Clay talking about on American Idol. He wanted to make sure that he made a difference…and he has kept his word…It's what motivates him. God Love Him. He uses his celebrity status for the Good of mankind…instead of wanting to be famous for the perks….and adulation. He definately has his priorities right…. 8 years, and he is still the same man….I think the world of him.

  3. This was such a special night! The excitement of waiting for Clay's interview. What a great surprise that he would become a UNICEF ambassador!! The man makes me so proud in all his endeavors including NIP. He has stayed true to himself. Thanks, musicfan, for the videos.

  4. What a pleasure to relive Clay's Unicef announcement back in 2005. Clay has stayed turn to himself and what he believes though the 7+ years of being in the entertainment business. It is so refreshing with all that is going on these days. Thanks CANN for today's blog.

  5. He is clever & smart…. I like it and …

true to himself up until now… That’s why he is still my idol ….

    boy..he talked so fast 😉

  6. I really enjoyed that interview with Clay and LKL. I am so proud of him…and he is so interesting to listen to. Like Larry said he is a Remarkable Young Man. He said he wanted to make a difference..and he certainly has. I see the same man today..only in a more mature body. I just love this man.
