You may have noticed a new option in the sidebar for something called "Mingle". This is a new plugin that turns the website into a Social Network. It includes the ability to create profile pages, user friending, profile page posts, profile activities, social comments, email notifications (with privacy settings) and a full directory of members.

If you have ever registered on CANN or accessed this site through a link on Facebook, you already have a profile on CANN. If you are not sure if you are registered or not, just go to the Directory page to see if you are there. Members who accessed CANN through Facebook were automatically registered here and assigned an alphanumeric code. It appears as your assigned user name, which is not very elegant. Because of that, I hid those Facebook accounts and you can register again using your preferred user name. So, give it a try and let me know what you think! Here is a summary of the features on Mingle:

  • User Profile Pages
  • Ability to Upload custom avatars (falls back on Gravatar)
  • User Friending
  • User Profile Posting (for friends)
  • User Profile Post Commenting (for friends)
  • Friend Activity Pages
  • Full Member Directory
  • Login & Navigation Widget
  • Random or Recent Users Widget
  • Email Notifications
  • User Email Notification Opt-Outs
  • Share/Bookmark

Instead of sitting around, waiting for a huge announcement from Clay Aiken, I decided I would look for some great profile pictures of Clay.  I mean... pictures always make me feel better.

Please let us know which profile picture is your favorite by voting in the poll.  The problem for me is there are far to many pictures for one poll.

Before I post the pictures, I want to suggest you visit the Discography that we are putting together on this site.  The tab is at the top of the site.  It is a work in progress.  Thank you to Deona for her wonderful work on this on-going project.

Also..........we are getting to the end of the Romantic song list.  Please don't forget.  We always like as many songs as we can get.

So, back to PROFILES!!

There are two things that I would like to tell you about.

NEW CHAT PROGRAM
We are trying out a new chat program.  This one allows more people to chat than the previous program.   It is always fun to chat when there is some Clay Aiken event happening live.  Please give it a try and let us know what you think.

ARTICLE COMMENTS
For a while, we have had a glitch with posting  comments on the articles.  It was almost impossible to go back and fix a typing mistake.  We finally discovered why and hopefully it is fixed.  I hope you will give this a try also.

If you have any other comments or suggestions, we would love to hear from you.  We want everything to be working well for all the great news we will be getting  "SOON."

Natalie Grant is a popular singer-songwriter of contemporary Christian music.  Born in Seattle, Washington, Natalie makes her home in Nashville with her husband and twin daughters who will be three in February.

Natalie is looked upon as an amazing and talented lady who plays a prominent role in Christian Music.  She has four Dove Awards for the best female artist and was also awarded the Gospel Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year four times.

"Relentless" is the name of Natalie’s 7th album, released in 2008.

In 2005, Natalie released her album titled “Awaken.”  One of the most beautiful songs on the album was “The Real Me.”  The poignant lyrics seem to express a search for peace from the push and pull of being in the limelight.  Natalie’s book, “The Real Me: Being the Girl God Sees” was available to the public in January of 2005.

Clay Aiken included “The Real Me” on his album On My Way Here. Although most of us have never heard this song live, there is a wonderful video of Clay singing the wistful song.

Yesterday afternoon, a number of our host provider's servers were down.  This created a problem for our blog and we were knocked off the net.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.  Fortunately, it looks like we are back up and "healthy."  If there are any problems, please let us know.

Clay Aiken fans  have band together to participate in Trick or Treat for The National Inclusion Project. In conjunction with the America’s Giving Challenge, this Halloween Party gives us the opportunity to fund a summer camp for kids of all abilities.

America’s Giving Challenge  is a 30-day national competition that encourages people to leverage their personal networks and online social media to help win cash awards that will total $170,000 on behalf of their favorite nonprofit. Participants in America’s Giving Challenge will compete for daily and overall cash awards based on the number of donations generated for a cause, not dollars raised. Awards will be given to the nonprofit beneficiaries of the causes that garner the highest number of unique daily donations between 3:00 p.m. EDT October 7, 2009, and 2:59pm EST on November 6, 2009.

$50,000 will be awarded to the cause with the highest total number of unique daily donations over the 30 days of the Challenge. $25,000 will be awarded to the cause with the next highest total number of unique daily donations over the 30 days of the Challenge. $10,000 will be awarded to the next five causes with the highest total number of unique daily donations over the 30 days of the Challenge. There will also be two daily awards every day of the Challenge: $1,000 to the cause with the most unique donations that day and $500 to the cause with the second highest number of unique donations that day. (Daily awards begin at 3:00pm ET and run through 2:59pm ET the following day.)

We are now halfway through our Halloween Celebration.  Many fans donated on the first day and we hope that many more will join in the fun.  Every donation counts!!

Donate from 3:00pm, Oct. 29th to 2:59pm, Oct. 30th

and

3:00pm, Oct. 30th to 2:59pm, Oct 31st

So, put down the extra bags of Halloween candy and

help build a camp for kids!

This is a special day at the Clay Aiken News Network. Today, we reached 100,000 visitors to our blog. Our first entry was published on January 11, 2009 when we said hello to the internet world.

Since that day, we have posted 451 articles that have been about Clay Aiken and about topics that relate to him.  We have 520 members who have signed up for daily updates by e-mail.  We average about 300 visitors a day, but have had up to 1100 in a 24 hour period.  We have had visitors from over 90 countries thoughout the world and many have introduced themselves to us.

CANN has also heard from some of the organizations we have written about.  It is always exciting to get those messages and know that our blog is being read by them.

This site was started to provide an accurate and positive place to get Clay Aiken news in a timely manner.  It’s been lots of fun and we want to thank each of you for your support.  Your visits and comments are so appreciated.

  • Respond to comments with ease via email.
  • Option to send a simultaneous tweet when you post a comment.
  • Comment voting.
  • Comments can be sorted by date, rating or latest activity.
  • You can embed video in your comment.

SueReu has posted some new video and photos on the CANN site.

She has created a permanent place for the playlist of Clay Aiken’s June 28, 2004 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live here. It includes four videos – Two Part Interview, full performance of I Will Carry You and a snippet of Clay’s performance of Kyrie.

And you can view a new photo slide show of a 2003 photoshoot here.

Enjoy!

Clay Aiken learned early in his entertainment career that one must catch a snooze whenever possible. Tours, early morning TV shows and Broadway performances can make a regular sleep schedule almost impossible.  Add to the mix, jet lag and you have a mighty tired person.  Power naps seem to be the best solution to this problem.

Check out the following pictures of Clay Aiken doing his best to catch up on his sleep.  Then, vote for your favorite picture.  Be sure and let us know why you picked your favorite.
